The work mode in which we currently operate was institutionalized by Henry Ford in 1926. At that time, the first test television broadcasts were taking place in the USA, silent films ruled the cinemas, and two years later, Fleming, while cultivating bacteria in his laboratory, accidentally discovered penicillin. That was a very long time ago.

💡 The Polish Economic Institute, in a recent study on reducing working hours, reported that 51% of enterprises believe that transitioning to a 4-day work week is impossible due to the specific nature of their industry. This is understandable for the manufacturing sector, but what about services? In my view, no revolution is needed here, just the implementation of simple solutions incorporating automation and AI, as well as a shift work schedule while ensuring continuity of services provided to clients.

💡 Research findings speak for themselves: In 2023, researchers from Boston College and the University of Cambridge listed the effects of a 20% shortened work week in the UK:

🔹 Significant reduction in stress levels;
🔹 Decrease in sick leave days;
🔹 Increase in employee loyalty to their employer; and
🔹 Noticeable improvement in work-life balance for working-age individuals.

❗️A shorter work week did not, however, negatively impact productivity in any way.❗️
